Both the Hummer EV SUV and Recon have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Hummer EV SUV has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Recon’s Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.
Both the Hummer EV SUV and the Recon have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.
The GMC Hummer EV SUV weighs 2561 to 2788 pounds more than the Jeep Recon. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.
